The European Commission today gave the green light to an Italian aid measure of 10 million euros intended to compensate Toscana Aeroporti , a company listed on Piazza Affari and which manages the airports of Pisa and Florence, for the damage suffered to cause of the coronavirus pandemic.

The provision allows the Tuscany Region to partially compensate Toscana Aeroporti for the damages suffered in the period between 10 March and 15 June 2020, following the restrictive measures on international and national air services.

The European commission said it found the measure "proportionate, as the compensation provided does not exceed (but is indeed lower than) what is necessary to compensate the damage. "The support was approved by the Regional Council of the Tuscany Region in July 2020.
